Had a great stay! Our room overlooked the market square, which was super festive. Food was delicious—massive portions! Small hiccup with parking updates every 2 hours, but I’d definitely come back for the ambiance and tasty meals.

I appreciated the homemade meals. they were quite filling and flavorful.
During my stay, I confronted several inconveniences. The parking situation was particularly frustrating. the nearby council-run car park frequently had issues with payment, leading to confusion. the room I was assigned had a significantly noisy toilet macerator unit that disrupted my sleep several times throughout the night.

nice pub ambiance, central location, separate entrance to rooms
The double room felt cramped!!! The socket by the bed was hanging off, and the shower was just a trickle. Parking was a hassle and the toilet macerator unit was too noisy!!! Management needs to consider these improvements!!!

i had such high hopes for this place, but alas it was all misplaced. the toilet macerator unit was louder than a rock concert, and the parking situation was simply outrageous. i absolutely expected at least a complimentary drink after all the trouble, but no. it's a travesty, really. one star for friendliness, if that counts.

My recent time at George and Dragon was a mixed bag. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Ashbourne, making it easy to explore. I found the staff incredibly friendly, and they made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The room, a Double Room with Private Bathroom, was reasonably priced, but it did have some issues. The floor creaked heavily, giving a dated charm, yet it was also quite uncomfortable during the night due to the sloping floor. I appreciated the homemade food. the fish and chips served at lunch were great—massive fish portion and perfect chips. the evening dining experience was less pleasant. I waited an hour for a dinner order that turned out to be mixed up, leading to me receiving the wrong meal. When the correct food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and not what I had hoped for. I noticed some concerns with cleanliness too, particularly the ladies' toilets, which lacked basic maintenance. A huge pile of vomit near the entrance was particularly off-putting.

This place suits me perfectly with a bar/lounge area, internet access, and 24-hour security. Staff helped me print on my first stay. A highlight was when staff offered a free drink after a mix-up. I'll definitely return for a holiday.
